Gov. Sarah Palin was back at work today, holding a meeting on the natural gas pipeline three days after giving birth to her fifth child.
Palin and her husband, Todd, showed the baby, Trig Paxson Van Palin, to a few reporters and talked about the sooner-than-expected delivery.
Trig arrived about a month early and has Down syndrome, the governor confirmed. Testing during early pregnancy revealed the condition. Palin said she was sad at first but they now feel blessed that God chose them. The couple has lots of family support, she said.
Palin was in Texas at a Republican Governors Association energy conference last week when early signs of labor began. She said she called her doctor early Thursday morning after some amniotic fluid began to leak. She talked over what was happening with her doctor, and they consulted about what to do.
She gave the keynote luncheon address, then she and Todd caught an Alaska Airlines flight back to Alaska. She said was never in full-blown labor on the plane but was having a contraction or two every hour.
"By my fifth child, I know what labor feels like," Palin said. That wasn't labor, she said.
The governor said she won't take a maternity leave but will bring Trig with her to work. Her spokesperson later clarified, at Palin's request, that the governor will take time off for medical appointments, physical therapy and whatever Trig needs.
I have to say Congratulations to the family. Enjoy the journey you are about to go on. Having my 3 kids.. I have learned alot and wish some families could be blessed with having a child with DS.

The new me....

Yeah, I did it... it a cross between purple and pink... and as it lightens up it will be pink. So what you think???
Where I been once again.
This past week been busy one. I keep thinking one day it will slow down.
We hired a nanny part time and she started on Tuesday and lets say she off to a slow start and not keeping up yet. I am giving her a 45 day grace period. She can't get it by then we will let her go and start all over again! I have a lady coming one day next week about cleaning house. Heard great things about her and hopefully she can do a well enough job to keep us afloat. In the mean time I will 'train' her to work with the kids too. I know I finally need help and it all too much. I want a clean house but spend ALOT of my time with all 3 kids playing there games and doing there thing. It very important for me to spend time with them and less time on the house but my my.. the house is taking over in some areas!
We got a 'new' (used) sofa on wed. I knew I wanted to scrub the walls down and get pen and pencil marks and juice stains off the walls. So for 3 hrs I scrubbed. Well by 7PM I noticed a spot in the living room the carpet was 'damp'. When DH, BIL and friend brought the sofa, had them to move the piano from the wall and it was soaked. What is behind that wall you ask, of course MY SHOWER! So after last few days no shower downstairs. The 'pipe' stripped in the shower upstairs. So We went all day Sat and part today no water. We are back up and running upstairs. We have someone coming next week to work on the bathroom down stairs. We are going to go ahead redo it now instead of Aug. We are looking at new carpet in the living room also. Can you say bye bye money and fast!
I have jumped in local games for Special Olympics and can't wait to get started. So any tips and advice to pass on. I am all for it! Right now Bocca is our big thing and hoping to bring in 2 other sports. So we shall wait and see how things plan out. Me and my crew been invited to go to a weekend camp but not sure we can swing it yet. Not sure how Dayton would enjoy it. I got to call them first thing Monday morning!

Happy Anniversary to Rusty... and me...
I sit here and so lost for words. So many mix feelings. Rusty and I been married for 15yrs today. Lets say it been a roller coaster ride!! We see the good, ok and bad of all marriages. Yes as both are growing and raising each other as we raise 3 special needs kids. Our life is not the norm by no means. Ask anyone especially the 'dr' feild they would said in the first few years our marriage would have ended.
As I look back over the years.. I still love him just more now than then. Of course he has faults as I am sure I have some too!
After I dropped the kids off school and came home.. he said be sure to listen to the radio. OK... why.. he said just do it!
I turn it on and about 10 mins later a dedication came on to him and I.. surely he cooked it up. There was playing a song by George Strait singing, "I Cross My Heart".
I have to say to know he still feels the same way and to tell over the radio... makes me melt. Dammit, I did not want to mess up my makeup!!!
I pray the next 15yrs are smoother than the last! I truly think he a wonderful man to choose to stand by me and our kids.
Hug to you honey, love you forever!
